He was only about 6weeks according to our vet. We took Henry straight away for checkup. He had lots of tummy trouble only weighed 4kilo. He is now 3and very chunky. Solid not fat he’s now 55kilo. Think his dad was a bear. He was a terrible biter the vet said that’s what his mother or siblings teach them not to bite. We love him so much. We would prob have rescue lab in future. I have a yellow lean lab reuben is very nervous

Hi Joanna. So sorry to hear your lad has struggled with this. The best person to advise you is his own vet, who knows Bruno personally. If they are unable to help further we recommend asking for a referral to a specialist. We do hope things get easier for Bruno soon ❤️

Bruno who has just turned 11 years has had these issues on and off through his life. He also now has arthritis in his lontestinal wer back. He is currently under the vet, he was taken off some medication that may be upsetting his stomach & we were giving his paracetamol daily . He was prescribed Salozypyrin for his stomach as he was having bowel movements through the night. He has been ok for last 2 nights but continues to be having loose stools . The vet also gave him a librela injection last thur to manage his pain. We have changed him onto a wheat free diet.
Can you give us any other practical advice to help with his gastrointestinal issues as this is the longest episode he has ever had.
Many thanks

Get off to good start by taking the dog in for a complete veterinary examination.

He is lovely but he is such a biter. I have tried re-directing him with his toys but he prefers my feet, hands and arms. If anyone has any suggestions for the biting I would be very grateful.

He is a smart boy though, we have had him for a week and I have already taught him to sit, paw and lay down!

He is willing to lean but is not willing to learn to take toys instead of biting!

You absolutely can train an older Lab, it might take a little longer than with a puppy but most bad habits can be worked on using positive reinforcement. I recommend having a dig around the training section of this website, and wishing you all the best.

Thank you for all this information! It helps me prepare for what I have ahead of me. From this, I think he is an English lab. Do you think I will be able to retrain him out of bad habits or will I just need to deal with what I get?

She is 4 years old. I trained her myself after going through training with a trainer for my first ( black) lab. Espresso took right to her tasks, I think because she is so driven to please. But the most impressive thing is when she was 3 months old she kept pawing at my chest and whining. I had breast cancer. My doctors said due to the location of it, it would have not been detected on a mammogram until it was more extensive.

He does great doing his tasks and he is fun to play with and train. He even pulls me in my wheelchair.
