Why is it that people think that golden retrievers are a different breed altogether, often I hear people say “because they have long fur”?

I enjoyed this article but didn’t see any mention of the taller field trial Labradors. We are blessed with a beautiful yellow field trial lab. She is long and tall with “angel wings”. We have had two yellow American yellows before this girl. We love the lab temperament and loyalty.
We think labs are the best, of course we may be a little partial.

thank you for all of the info. my wife and I love abs. we have helped many labs from friends and the pound, the last one was a looser!! we tried to trainer with little result. how do I stop thi from happening again?? HELP!!

In reply to JOHN R FRIES. I totally understand how you feel. We had a male yellow lab with a very wide head. He was our Justice. He passed away approximately two years ago. I miss him every day. He was beautiful. His colors were yellow and red mixed down his back. My husband wants to get another one even though it will be hard for me I think that if I get another one maybe it will fill the hole I have in my heart. I will never forget him. It’s hard but I’m ready for a new love in my life.

i have a yellow female, rescued and about 10 years old. She is overweight some and acts like she is hot all the time, even in the home. She is a jewel and I wonder if others have pups that act hot most of the time?

I love labs. We had 2, a black Roxy and yellow Shasta. We loved both of them. They both passed 2 years ago after 16 years of great companionship. I’m 65 now and can’t get myself to get another lab. I miss our dogs everyday.
