Hi Ric. This sounds very distressing for you both. It sounds like it would be a good plan to go back to your vet and ask for more support and reassurance. If they can’t help, we suggest getting a second opinion – your vet may be able to refer you to a specialist, for example. Sending Tierra our very best wishes. Sammie.

My vet gave me some syrup to squirt down her throat once a day and it doesn’t seem to help because she gags like she’s going to vomit and nothing ever comes out and this occurs a few times Sometimes less other times and it scares the hell out of me. What else can be done for my service dog Tierra.? She is 11 years old And she’s breathing fine but when she gets out in the heat just going for a mild walk, she starts breathing hard and does cough sometimes when she’s having a hacking episode that sounds like a honking goose, but this is rare. Was she’s probably trying to remove something that’s in her throat.

I live in south Texas and its hot outside.
