I recently adopted a puppy that had showed up at someone’s house and they had sent a picture of it to the local newspaper. I had just lost my pink-nose pitbull that showed up at my house, and I kept him for 12 years. So, I needed to fill that void in my life. This pup was a red color (exactly like a fox), with some yellow highlights…and upon doing some research, am fairly sure it is a variant of the yellow lab. It has high energy, constant zoomies, chases everything that comes out of the mountain, where I live, but is very nervous around strangers (at first). All in this article sounds familiar…he is cutting his teeth, and likes to chew on me from time to time. Thanks for the informative article. The lady had named him Rusty, and the irony is, my pitbull was also named Rusty…so I guess it was meant to be.

We have a a fox red Labrador retriever and we could not be happier. He is a wonderful dog. He was born on July 4 2023 so at this time he is almost 2 years old.
We got him from Wildrose Kennels in Oxford Mississippi. They train bird hunting dogs. They call them gentleman’s gun dogs Ours is not a trained hunting dog. I did not need a hunting dog I just wanted one of their dogs for our companion. We let them train him in obedience and I can’t say enough about him,
He goes everywhere with us and he is a happy friendly dog. He is part of the family
This is the edit of the above comment. I didn’t see the errors at first.

But our Molly, dog is solid red with no white at all, she has a lot of the temperament of the cattle dog but she also has so has the temperament of a Labrador, not that it matters but I wish I knew what she really was. I loved the read on the Red Fox Labrador it sounds alog like molly.

We had been yearning for a lab puppy, preferably black female so we started looking. We found a litter of the age we wanted, almost 8 weeks old and only one black female left. They sent us pictures and at that point there were only 2 left so we went to check on them. Well with a male red fox, and black female we just couldn’t split them up. So now at at 9 months it’s like having 2 “ Marleys “ and wouldn’t have it any other way. They keep us so busy, they keep us young as we are in our later 60’s. Have always had labs and you never will find two alike, they all have their own personalities.

Ours is a pure bred red fox and she has a white diamond on the chest. It is a common trait with red fox

What are these pictures cute! I just can not! I love looking at pictures of little Labradors so much! These are simply some of the finest dogs in the world! And especially this photo of the smallest Labrador! I remember the day when I was presented with a Labrador, I was so happy that it is simply beyond words! I wish everyone had a dog in the house)) and preferably a Labrador! Thanks for such a lovely post! It was interesting to read it!
