Louise & Bentley!]]> Thank you so much for posting these training tips. During “lock down” it is really hard to get any help with puppy training.
Can I ask a question please….my Labrador is now 6 months and as well as pulling on the lead gets really vocal when excited by other dogs or people approaching. What would you advise I do in this circumstance? Should I turn and walk in the other direction or should I try (!) to make him sit….any advice would be greatly appreciated 😊 Thank you. Louise & Bentley!

He pulls so hard I had to use all my strength to hold control of the leash, this wasa body harness. I definitely need all the help I can get with this strong willed guy.

I know you posted this a year ago, so your dog is just under 2 years old now? Your comment made me stop in my tracks.. you beat your dog to get it to walk with you?

I found the best solution is for the owner
To turn around the opposite way . And start walking the opposite way in which the dog is walking. As soon the dog will realize your not going the same direction your going. And become confused. And turn towards the direction your going.when that occurs. Go back to the original direction your walking. And when he starts pulling again. Redo the same thing you did before. And that is go the opposite direction the dog is going. Keep this up. Soon the dog will realize that the dog needs to quit pulling and just walk without pulling you. I tried this with my Rat Terrier. And it works! Good luck.

I have a 11month lab, she is awful on the lead and very easily distracted at anything, people, dogs, bikes, cars etc. We had her wearing a harness while out and about when she was younger, as we live in the country side it’s so easy to go into our favourite field & let her off using a slip lead (which by the way I find a lot better than the harness) I’m soon going to start taking her out and about to get her lead work sorted but I can’t find a solution as to what is best to use, the harness just seems to let her pull even harder, a normal collar might be ok but I’m scared of her getting out of it, as I said the slip lead is perfect for nipping over the road to the field where she’s let off but she pulls too much that I’m worried she may hurt herself if I use it for more than I usually do.

I’m hoping you can give me abit of advice. Thanks Emma

My pet is 4 months old. She is reluctant to go on a walk and literally, stands still, refusing to move forward. The only walk she prefers is to relieve her-self. Once done, she forces herself back to home. Please let me know, how much walk/exercise is necessary for her. Regarding walk, i tried coercing her – with treat, love and even beating – but of no use. How can i make her walk.
