We rescued him when he was about 10 weeks old and never regrated even a moment of the time we had with him. My wife and I had two older kids at the time and within a month were realized our family had grown to three kids. I have been around dogs all my life and in my opinion, this mix breed leads the pack when it comes to a family dog.

I will also add a few bits of information for future owners:
They are smart, quick learners and want to please you. Just do not over scold them.
They act like puppies into their second year. Enjoy it, they are a riot.
They do shed but weekly grooming during the peak times helps tremendously.
Be careful in the selection process, ours had the worst hip dysplasia the Vet had ever seen.
They need to be walked, played with and challenged in different ways daily.
Socialize them and you will be amazed how controlled and gentle they are.
They need to be around you as well as receive your approval. Let them and give it to them.
Treat them well and they will give you back more that you could ever give them.

I know some of those may apply to all dogs, but some are pretty specific, for them as I know several owners of them.

I hope that helps.

And I now am the proud parent of a 4 week old Sheprador. He’s a boy and already on the bigger size of puppies his age. Very smart already learned where to relieve himself. I am not aiming for over night house training yet but it seems he’s already picked that up on his own. I see a lot of his dad’s traits in him though he is gentle and quiet. I will let you know as he grows how he evolves into his own character and behavior.

My son now has a cat and I am sure that being a cat will not like a dog in the house. So he must learn!!
I want a rescue Sheprador. I would prefer a female o balance the hormone ratio.
Do you have any suggestuions ?

She’s great and super intelligent. It’s amazing on how well she communicates her needs. When I walk her on the streets she’s all Lab. Friendly and thinks everybody was put on this earth to play with her. However, let a stranger come to the door and the GSD in her comes out. Great guard dog of her environment. Doesn’t like delivery people on her property. Sheds a ton, loves to play and knows her needs. My only complaint is the constant whining. I understand it’s her mode of communication with us. But at times she just whines for no reason or at least none known to us.
