My black lab is Lycurgus (founder of Sparta) and my cocker is Sexby (Edward Sexby was Oliver Cromwell’s general). Needless to say I never get the wrong dog coming up to me in the park Strong names.

We have a black lab and a yellow lab and they are Ebony and Ivory.
We have had Byron, McDuff, Kingsley, Orlando, Calliope, Portia and Titania.

I was surprised not to see Charlie on the list. We had a beautiful yellow lab for almost 13 years. We named him Charlie Mac after the great LSU football coach Charles McClendon. He was the best and we still miss him after almost 3 years.

We are considering a 1-year-old male Yellow Lab who needs a new home with a fenced yard and owner with more time to devote to its care. The current owner calls the puppy Malfoy from the character in the Harry Potter series. Presumably because of the actor’s hair color. We find the name unique, but it does not roll off the tongue very well. So, your suggestion to change a rescue dogs name was well received. We like Otto (my grandfathers nickname), Winston after my favorite person in modern history, Nocho because of the Lab’s color, and Milo for reasons that I can’t explain. But in the process of looking for a name it seems both my wife and I like Harrison, but we will call him Harry after my uncle who was a Lancaster pilot in the RAF during the Second World War.
