We are super frustrated with our dog. She is a dorgi- a dachshund, corgi, shepherd mix.
She was a rescue. She has failed dog training classes three times. She sits on top of the top cushions of the sofa and has completely ruined our living room furniture. She perches up there like a cat. She weighs 25 lbs! We are finally, after 23 years, getting new furniture in that room and I am not sure how to keep her out. We have pocket doors and she has broken two of them repeatedly. How do we keep her out of the room and off the top cushions of the furniture.

I have been trying to teach my puppy to lay in her bed by giving her treats whenever she goes there naturally. But she loses interest and EVERYTHING else and then just stands by me and wants more treats. She won’t go back to her bed so I can give her more treats for repetition. Do I just have to be patient and ignore her until she goes back to her bed again?

He does do this at doggy day care but never at home. When we moved to our new house and nice new sofa, he seemed to think it was ok to clamber up ?. We gently herded him off any time we saw him and generally rewarded him for being in his own bed. Every biscuit was given in his bed. Also we placed the kitchen stools on the sofa for a few days when we were out, then just a couple of books for a few days, and pretty soon just the remote control in the centre of the cushion. This did two things – deterred him from going up and would have been moved if he had. He again does not sleep on the sofa and, as always, is happiest in his own bed. Now we have another pup who just follows his lead – paws on the floor ?
