Our 3 year old black labrador is perfect, except when occasionally he see a person he really like. Then he just drags me to them. Embarrassing and not ok..help

Hi Eva – you can adapt some of the techniques in this harness training video, to help your pup ignore the leash :). First reward her for ignoring the leash in your hand, then as you clip and unclip it, and then with an increasing amount of time between clipping and unclipping 🙂 https://www.thelabradorsite.com/how-to-get-a-dog-into-a-harness/

Thank you for all your advice. My 4 and a half month old Lab puppy walks quite well on the lead and does not pull much. As you say I simply stop when she pulls and ignore her. My problem is that when I first put her on the lead she absolutely wants to hold it in her mouth. She does not want to chew it through but insists on carrying it in her mouth. Also when she is unhappy about the lead she puts it into her mouth and shakes her head vigorously from side to side. Do you have any advice for this? Thanks a lot. Best regards, Eva.

Has this method worked for your labs?
I have two 7 month labs, and they are both brothers from the same litter.
It has not worked for me and I have followed the instructions to the T.

Thank you so much for posting this. My step-son has two one-year old lab puppies that I have been taking care of for him the last four months and my shoulders are a mess from them ripping my arms out of the socket. I am very excited to try this!!! Debbie

Have I got the ryt lead to walk my puppy, she’s only been out 3 times, it’s extended one, I havint had much luck with leads they have came off her harness(nearly had heartattack) the extended lead I am frightened incase it snaps when she pulls as she’s qwit strong.
