In fact, it says so in the breed standard, in the part regarding colors.

Our yellow lab was a rescue, appeared to have lots of lab genetics, except a 1/2 in longer snout and a wrinkle in each ear. Sent his mouth swabs to Wisdom and the response was that Duke was 100% labrador and they identified a gene that may result in a longer snout and a gene that may result in what they called perky ears. WOW!!

I unfortunately grew to old to continue that tradition and I miss the love and friendship of them all dearly. They are simply the best all around dog. I trained them all myself with 3 other friends and their labs, it was great fun.
