Our lab is only left on his own for about 2-3 hours (not every day) which I am sure he sleeps through. He had full run of the house and he chooses whether he wants to lie on one of the beds, or the sofa in the lounge or a futon in the dining room. He also has access to the garden through his dog flap and I have great neighbours with young children who say they go out to to speak to him!

I didn’t really want to have to rely upon a family or friend to walk her and I vowed if I ever got a dog I wouldn’t leave her at home all day on her own with someone coming in at lunch to walk her for an hour as I don’t think it’s fair on the dog and local dog walkers around here are not great (twice I’ve had to chase after them to return one of the dogs as they’ve not been paying attention and have been too busy on their phone). It’s not cheap (£20 a day) but I am happy to pay it and it’s a sacrifice I’m willing to make as the crèche is amazing, the girls all have great control over the dogs, all the dogs nearly dislocate their owners shoulders to come in every morning and most importantly my dog loves it. She’s getting the best care, is well socialised, has a blast every day and I’m able to work and own a dog 🙂

After that, I had to go to work. With the concurrance of my vet, my puppy went to daycare. They kept her separated for the first week due to not having her second round of shots. They took extra special care of her. It has been the best decision. They continue on with whatever training I started at home. Now at 4 months they tell me she is the only puppy that has not had an accident and is completely crate trained. She is well socialised around other animals and people and gets great exercise whilst I am at work.
